The AVRO's National Animal Knowlegde Quiz was taped today. I participated together with 320 other competitors, in 4 groups of 80 persons. It was nice to have taken part in such an event, broadcasting will start at september 9^th and my big face can be seen at sept 21^st.
In the Quiz there was also a panel of three dutch celebrities: Ernst Daniël Smid (an opera-singer and TV-host), Tanja Jess (an actress) and Ron Brandsteder (a TV-host). This quiz was hosted by Lucille Werner.
So the multiple choice questions asked were pretty tough (Like: what's the hibernation-time of a particular species of mice? 5, 7 or 9 months, euhm ...). After 4 rounds of questions, 6 candidates were selected with the most correctly answered questions. These 6 played another of m.c. questions and now 2 candidates were selected to play the finals which are going to be taped another day. I was like: let's see how many rounds I can survive ... Well, not many . But ... my actual mission was completed succesfully !! I got very close with Lucille and luckily ended up with having a picture of me and Lucille. I also tried to get Tanja to take her picture with me, but she was long gone before I had the change of asking .
Here you can also see a few more pictures I took while waiting for the shooting to take place *. It was dark and I couldn't use a flash so most pictures are a bit 'shaken', unfortunately.
* Small remark: We waited for about one and a half hour and in the studio itself it was about 40 degrees C. (sweating my ass butt off, kleinigheidje ...)

Last saturday I did the pre-selection for this new quiz Capibara. And guess what .. I past it, haha. And one other thing, I also did the National Animal Knowledge Quiz at alledierentellenmee. This is an other quiz starting in september at the AVRO broadcasting station (Dutch national television). And I can also participate in these pre-rouds. Wuuhhuu !! So now I'm praying for simple questions and no-black-outs and many other things. The funny thing is: if there's a very difficult question, I know the answer most of the times and the simple questions ... well, that are the ones that are difficult to me. Vewy stwange ...
There is also this dress-code mentioned in the letter I got for the National Animal quiz-shooting this saturday. No stripe-shirts, no shirts with circles in it, no complete white and complete black clothing.
Mmmm, that means I haven to get me some new clothes, I guess ...

Today I participated in a selection round for a new TV-quiz. It's called 'Capibara' and will be broadcasted by the AVRO starting in october. This quiz is an animal-knowledge quiz as a part of alle dieren tellen mee. Some multiple choice questions had to be filled in, some were pretty hard. Like 'what two colors can be seen by dogs ?' ... So that means I had to guess most of the answers, but anyway ... I got me a nice AVRO-pen and an AVRO-towl, wuuhuuw !! This week I'll be contacted whether I'm in or not and if I'm in ... I'm gonna be with my big snufferd on telly (now that's gonna drop some viewernumbers ... !!)

hello again ... been a while but than again, I've been going to the beach now nearly three days in a row, I've been baking there (to put it in Dutch words) as in: I've been working on my tan. It has been (and still is) very hot all over Holland, but that damn sea is so cold (I know, I am a chilly person ...). Last thursday was my graduationday (see picture). 13 students got their degree in Medical Biology, including me. Nice and fun ceremony, every student got a personal speech from the study advisor. So now my college days are over and I'm officialy 'Master of Science' or doctorandus, as they call that in Dutch. And next thursday there's another job interview at Parexel Holland. Ssoooo, wish me luck.

The job-interview I had the other day went well. The one main problem was (I think), I'm not enough experienced (heee... don't get me wrong, I mean I .. I àm experienced as Will Smith would say in 'Enemy of the state' when beeing in a lingerystore). I mean, I'm fresh from the university so to say, which means that I haven't done any advanced courses or working-experience or anything.
Anyway, there turned out to be about 45 applicants to that job and they picked only a few people out, including me !! So that means that my résumé and letter of application made quite an impression on them (okay okay, I rule, I rock ... I know, I can't help it (most of the times) )
I'll be contacted next week for the final decision ...

So Ilse and I decided to quit dancing this year, because of her health-problems (and no, she's not my girlfriend). That is, we're not going to follow the regular course, but are still going to some of the social evenings when she's up to it, so it's not a complete stop. Very unfortunate ofcourse, but realistic: if health-problems are at stake, it's better to quit.
Luckily for use, we have had some good results in the past year, so that are the good memories that will remain.

Familiar with the concept 'new shoes' ? Well, I am ... they are killing me right now. Tomorrow I have this job interview and so I decided to buy some new shoes for it. No long journey to find the right ones ofcourse cause I hate don't like shopping that much. It went a little something like this: going in the store, lookin around, fitting, match, buy, out the store, done. Damn, its good to be a guy ...
Yesterday I watched 'the fisher king' and a few days before that 'the deerhunter'. What's with these movies on tv lately ? Okay, these are Oscar-material-movies but I do prefer more the moral-lacking and shallow action films, or as I like to call it the 'schieten-tieten en helicopters' movies. A good'ol shooting, car-chasing, many special effects movie, that's more up my alley. But then again, I've got to get me a DVD-player with DTS some day ...

Yesterday my cousin got married. The ceremony was held in a very beautiful old villa in a little place called Slochteren, which is about a two and a half hour drive away from here. Luckily, the weather was nice, no rain (only on the way over).
When we arrived, the newly weds-to-be were allready sitting in an old car outside the villa, waiting for the ceremony to start. The ceremony itself was also very nice, though there were a few kids talking and screaming while the minister gave her speech but nevertheless, all went well. Congratulations to the both of them !!

The only thing was ... I forgot to ask the destination of their honeymoon ...

I've put a few extra pictures in the 'page of fame' gallery. I dug up some more photos from my personal album and scanned them. While viewing my pictures .. remembering those good ol'times (*sighs*). Anyway, lots and lots of rain this morning (again) while I was working outside (ofcourse). Thus ending up completely soaked and when I got home, the sun was shining. That's very frustrating to me, I mean when I'm soaked: LET THERE BE RAIN ALL DAY THAN and not just the times I'm outside !!
But then again ... that's the story of my life, I can't help it ...

Dance valley has begun. This dance event is one of the largest open air dance events in all of Europe and is held in Spaarnwoude, a large recreation area near Amsterdam. The location were this event is held is not far from where I live. I've never been to dance valley myself but if I stand in the backyard, I can hear the beat (which is about 3 to 4 miles away). It started at 10 am and the event lasts untill 11 pm.
At this moment, rain is pouring down from the sky so I hope it will not end as a complete fiasco as it did last year (that is, the ending of it). Last year there were about 90 thousand people at dance valley and by the end of the evening rain was also pouring down. Everybody wanted to go home but there was very little transportation to the nearby trainstations and many people started walking to it. As Spaarnwoude is somewhat in the middle of nowhere, hunderds of people got hypothermic because of the rain and the little amount of clothing they were wearing. This year there is a max of 40 thousand visitors and transport should now be properly taken care of.
I hope for their sake it truely is ....
